Few trawler designs have enjoyed the enduring appeal of the Defever 44, as this is one of the most popular Defever productions design ever. A long range, heavy displacement hull provides safety and comfort in a seaway. She's a heavy boat, and her displacement hull provides a particularly comfortable ride in a chop. Below decks, her two-stateroom teak interior is arranged with the galley aft and to port in the salon (most galley-up layouts have the galley forward). There are two deck access doors in the salon, and the visibility from the lower helm is very good. A great feature of the Defever 44 is her spacious engine room with it's easy access, and near-standing headroom. Power is provided by twin, 135-hp Ford Lehman diesel engines, which will cruise efficiently at 7 to 8-knots, with a cruising range of about 1200-miles. Forward stateroom with large V berth with insert, private head with shower, hanging locker and watertight door into engine room.

Up six steps to salon and galley. Salon has lower steering station with built in bench seat, sliding doors to sidedecks port and starboard and built in L shaped settee with large dinette table port, nav table and storage across to port. Galley is up aft port part of salon and has pass-through into salon.

From salon, down four steps aft to master stateroom or up aft to deck. Master stateroom has centerline queen, private head with stall shower and A TON of storage including walk-in closet.
