Larson has gone big for 2003 — at least in the look, feel and features of its new Cabrio 310. The 31'-long mid-size cruiser boasts a 10'6" beam and is filled with creature comforts.

The Cabrio 310 rides on a 20-degree transom deadrise Duo Delta Conic hull, which was designed by Harry Schoell, a well-known marine architect. The DDC hull incorporates a notch that separates its fore and aft running surfaces. According to press material from Larson, the notch creates a wave of water pressure below the aft running surface to lift the stern during acceleration. The results reportedly are quicker time to plane with minimal bow rise and no "wallowing" under heavy load.

Designed for maximum versatility, the cabin was laid out with no bulkhead between the main cabin and mid-berth. That makes the mid-cabin an ideal common area for entertaining. Plus, the cabin boasts a variety of pampering amenities. The galley includes simulated granite counters, maple-trimmed cabinets, a double-burner stove, a microwave oven and a refrigerator. For abovedeck socializing, the cockpit features its own entertainment center with a sink and a refrigerator.

Among the new model's noteworthy design features is its aft boarding platform. Molded as part of the deck and hull, the platform is 3' deep and does not compromise cockpit or engine compartment space. Platform amenities include a boarding ladder that disappears behind a cover, a fender locker and a hot-and-cold-water transom shower.

This Cabrio 310 is equipped with twin Volvo 5.7 Gi motors and DuoProp outdrives. 560HP total

General

Larson’s reputation for delivering a lot of boat for the money was on full display with the introduction in 2003 of the 310 Cabrio, a roomy midcabin cruiser whose moderate price included an impressive inventory of standard equipment. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with a notched bottom, the Cabrio’s wide-open interior is dominated by a curved lounge that extends from the head compartment all the way around to the galley. A dinette table is to port, and the midcabin is tucked behind the companionway steps, which leaves it open to the salon. Privacy curtains separate the sleeping areas from the main cabin, and the head contains a separate stall shower—a luxury on any 30-foot boat. On deck, the cockpit has a U-shaped settee aft as well as a wet bar, and the driver’s side of the double helm seat has a drop-down bolster for standup driving. A large transom locker stores fenders and dock lines, etc. There are no side decks on the Cabrio, so a walk-through windshield—with no handrail—provides access to the foredeck. A tilt wheel, radar arch, and transom shower were standard. Among several sterndrive options, twin 280hp Volvo gas engines cruise in the low 30s and reach a top speed of 40+ knots.
